Marion County has a population of 61,000, 90% Anglo and 10% persons of color. The average household income is $51,000, with 11% living below the poverty line. 33% are single parents and 11% are college graduates. 34% have no faith involvement. The largest town is Marion with a population of 55,000. Marion County has 11 United Methodist Churches, 7 of which are small and rural, and 4 of which are in the town of Marion.
